Life Skills Learning Center
The primary goal of the Life Skills Learning Center is to teach a variety of skills, enabling program participants the opportunity to achieve their fullest potential in life. In order to achieve this goal we offer a wide variety of activities that reinforce basic life skills, community integration and functional skills.

Life Skills Learning Center provides:
- A functional based curriculum that presents choices, and offers each participant the opportunity of selection based on interest, needs and abilities.
- Diversity in multi-learning environments.
- Individual plans based on client needs and abilities.
- A safe, clean environment where all are treated with fairness, respect, and dignity.

Curriculum
The Life Skills Learning Center curriculum is comprised of eight specific domains. Weekly Lesson Plans include a mix of activities based on the following eight components:
- Social Skills
- Accepted Social Behavior, Manners, Respect
- Developing and Maintaining Relationships
- Cognitive Skills
- Counting, Sorting, Shape and Color Identification
- Basic Math, Reading and Writing
- Health and Safety
- Nutrition, Exercise, Self-Care
- Personal Safety, Emergency Preparedness
- Science and Technology
- Weather, Biology
- Computer Lab, Electronics
- Vocational Skills
- Workplace Maturities, Stamina
- Sorting, Counting
- Self-Advocacy
- Personal Rights
- Making Choices
- Community Integration
- Weekly Field Trips to Points of Interest
- Safety in Public, How to Find Help
- Recreation and Leisure
- Choosing and Developing Hobbies for Personal Fulfillment
- Sports, Games, Social Settings
Blended Programming and Paid Work
Life Skills Learning Center offers paid vocational training for eligible participants who are work-ready. Individuals have the option of participating in paid work activities within the Life Skills facility on a limited basis or may attend ABLE’s Work Services Program
Entrance Criteria
- Eighteen years of age or older
- Central Valley Regional Center referral and entrance packet
- Ability to direct and control basic self-care needs
- Ability to meet medical guidelines
- Voluntarily agrees to participate in the program
- Demonstrates a desire to maintain conduct not endangering himself/herself or others
